Lyle C. Meals of Carson City, Nev. passed away at his home on Jan. 15, 2013 after a 12 year fight with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Peoria, Ill. on July 12, 1925 to Charles A. and Emma E. Hamilton Meals. He attended Peoria schools majoring in Physical Education. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was trained in being a General Line, Electronics, Division and Tactical Radar Officer. He was commissioned a Lt. Ensign and served aboard the U.S.S. Takanis Bay in World War II.
He married Genevieve Arnott in 1946. They had four children: Connie (Wayne) Alexander, Patti Meals, Gerald (Marcie) Meals all of Sparks and Michael (Mary) Meals of Yakima, Wash.
He was active in the YMCA in Indiana, Illinois, Montana, and Nevada. He taught school for one year in Washoe County. He owned the Pink and Blue Diaper Service in Reno 1963-1970. In 1971 through 1999 he was an Agent and a Broker in Real Estate.
Lyle and Genevieve divorced in 1974. In 1985, he married Mary Ann Teuscher. She had five sons, Randy Teuscher and Damon Teuscher both of Las Vegas, Garth (Collette) Teuscher and Mark (Kelly) Teuscher of Carson City, and Sherman Teuscher of Spring, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one step-sister; and three step-brothers. Survivors are his wife; nine children; 25 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donations to remember Lyle may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church or Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City or St. Mary's Hospice, CARE CHEST of Sierra Nevada, or the Alzheimer's Association all of Reno.
Capital City Cremation and Burial Society of Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
