Sierra Nevada Kiwanis a huge help for STEP
The Sierra Nevada Kiwanis Club of Carson City held a wine tasting event to benefit Sierra Therapeutic Equestrian Center (STEP) June 23. Proceeds will go towards scholarships for riders this summer.
The group has been extremely supportive of the STEP program for several years now. Five years ago, the group installed a paver walkway to the mounting ramp for those individuals who were unable to walk and needed walkers or wheelchairs.
The group has also helped with maintaining a shed for the miniatures that are used in the program.
It is through the assistance of these community involved groups and businesses that we are able to provide quality therapy to our local children and adults. The STEP program is an affiliate of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH).
PATH’s standards for safety and quality of therapy are benchmark for the therapeutic riding industry.
STEP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 1997. Our mission is to assist individuals in our community who are dealing with physical, mental, emotional or educational special needs by providing therapeutic riding services.
