Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon, on U.S. Highway 50 about 5 miles east of Dayton, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
According to Trooper Dan Lopez:
A white Ford F-150 pickup was eastbound near Six Mile Canyon Road when it drifted into a westbound lane, colliding with a white Toyota Camry.
Two people were in the pickup, and one was in the Camry.
The westbound lanes of the road were closed until about 9 p.m. as an investigation continued, and one eastbound lane was open. Westbound drivers were directed to drive on the dirt shoulder of the road.
The Nevada Highway Patrol isn’t identifying those who died pending notification of family members. Lopez expected that the names would be released today.
It’s unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
