Obituary: Mary Margaret Belton

Aug. 10, 1948 - July 24, 2013

Mary Margaret Belton, 64, of Battle Mountain, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 after more than a year long battle with cancer. She was born August 10, 1948 to Ruby and Frank Adams of Fallon and was an only child as a result of her older siblings having passed prior to her birth. She married Charles Belton on November 29, 1969.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck; her three children, Mike, Dana, and Cyndi; six grand-children, Samantha, Allison, Brian, Rayni, Colin, and Tony, and several cousins.

Mary was raised in Fallon where she graduated from High School. She then moved to the Reno area where she attended and graduated from cosmetology school upon which she moved back to Fallon. After meeting her husband and being married, she moved back to Reno to start her family. In 1978, she and her family moved to Battle Mountain where she has been ever since.

During her life in Battle Mountain, she was a dedicated member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority with over 30 years of perfect attendance. She also worked for and retired from the school district in Battle Mountain.

Two Memorial Services will be held. The first one will be on August 3, 2013 in Battle Mountain at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. The second will be in Fallon at the Gardens Funeral Home on August 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. There will be no viewing at either service and the family has requested that a donation to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation be made in lieu of flowers.
