An alleged Army deserter was arrested Tuesday at an apartment in the Parkway Plaza complex, 20 College Parkway.

According to Carson City Sheriff’s Office reports:

Matthew James Golden, 24, of Carson City was a military police officer based in Sacramento. He went missing Nov. 17.

A deputy with the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Enforcement Team arrested Golden at 6:05 p.m. on a felony deserter/absentee warrant issued by the armed forces. A 19-year-old Carson City man in the apartment was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and criminal contempt. Golden was being held without bail; the 19-year-old’s bail was set at $2,100.

According to Nevada Appeal and Record-Courier archives:

Golden and his wife pleaded guilty in November 2008, when both were 19, in connection with several break-ins the previous month at a Gardnerville martial-arts studio. They took cash, credit cards and checks worth nearly $6,000. Golden pleaded guilty to burglary; his wife, Amanda, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary.

The Goldens were sentenced in December 2008 to five years of probation and were given credit for 105 days served in the Douglas County Jail.

In May 2009, they were sentenced to three-year suspended sentences and probation in the theft of a guitar and $600 from Pizza Factory in Minden. The theft occurred about the same time as the break-ins in Gardnerville.

Golden was arrested in August 2009 for underage drinking, a probation violation. He admitted several probation violations, including drinking alcohol, not reporting to his probation officer, changing his residence without notice, and failure to pay fees and fines or find employment. He later was sentenced to five years in prison.

Golden also was arrested Nov. 13, 2012, on a fugitive-from-justice bail out of Kentucky. He and Amanda Golden are divorced.
