This weekend’s 29th Car Show of the Karson Kruzers in Carson City will focus on events keyed to Carson Mall and Fuji Park. Highlights include Saturday evening’s vehicle parade and street dance, according to Loretta Marcin, the car club’s president.

“It’s all about the love of vehicles,” she said.

The parade is set for the early evening on Carson Street. The main street dance follows at 7 p.m. Music is by The Cutter’s Band, a Carson City group that plays rock, blues and other favorites.

The “Run What-Cha-Brung” fun occurs the final weekend in June each year in Carson City, with cars entered in 57 classes for 2013, plus other awards for participants that include People’s Choice; Club Men’s Choice; Club Women’s Choice; Hard Luck; Club Participation; Pig’s Pick; Long Distance; and In The Weeds.

The Pig’s Pick is selected by Sheriff Ken Furlong, according to Marcin. The Long Distance goes to the entrant coming the longest distance to participate in the event. In The Weeds goes to the lowest-slung vehicle.

Marcin said she expects perhaps 180 entries.

Included will be some participants from Las Vegas to the south and Oregon to the northwest. She said many come from California, particularly the Bay Area.

Registration is Friday evening and Saturday morning, with street dances listed both on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Judging is Saturday, along with other activities and the parade followed by the street dance. On Sunday, there will be a Poker Run is in the morning and awards at noon.
