Obituary: Col. Arthur Wayne Reed

Col. Arthur Wayne Reed, 96, passed away June 25, 2013 in Carson City, NV. Col. Reed was born August 28, 1916 in Wichita, KS to Arthur and Clyde Reed. Col. Reed was a graduate of the U.S.M.A. at Westpoint in 1939. From there he embarked on a thirty year career in the U.S. Army, artillery division. He is a WWII veteran. Col. Reed was stationed in Hawaii at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. After Col. Reeds retirement from the Army he went to work for General Dynamics in San Diego, CA retiring in 1978.

In 1940, Art married Kathleen Calicutt and they had two children. He later met and married Allagean Howard in 1972.

Art was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Watts and a brother, Clyde Reed.

He is survived by one son, Wayne Reed and one daughter, Leslie Anderson (Steve) and grandson, Nathanael Anderson; two step-daughters, Pamela Kenison (Dennis) and Sandra Beatty.

There will be a graveside service with military honors on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden, NV.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Art’s honor to St Mary’s Hospice.

Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is in charge of final arrangements.
