A regional art show called “Sands of Time” opens Monday in Fernley, where the display of works by various artists can be seen in the gallery at Grate Thyme Kitchen, a restaurant at Skyridge Plaza, through all of July.
The exhibit at the 150 E. Main St. plaza in Suite 470 features a wide array of pieces in many media and includes the award winning work of artist Murielle Campbell, 16, a Fernley High School junior and the youngest participant in the show.
The 16-year-old has received more than a dozen wards for her works since 2008. The Nevada PTA Reflections competition resulted in an award of merit for her work at the state level and, as a representation of Nevada’s competition, her work received national recognition while it was exhibited in Washington, D.C.
The works of nine other artists from the Fernley Palettes and Pencils Art Group also are in the show, along with various pieces from other Northern Nevada artists. Presented for viewing will be works in pencil and ink, colored pencil, oil, watercolor and acrylic, collage, glass and multimedia.
