SACRAMENTO - Carson High opened its 2013 softball season with an 8-0 loss to Casa Roble in the opening game of the Sacramento TOC at the Sacramento Softball Complex.

The game was stopped after five innings because of the 7-run rule.

The only hit was off the bat of Sara Brewer.

Erica Watson and Rebecka Breuer shared the pitching duties, but neither was able to hold off Casa Roble.

"They hit the ball very well," said first-year coach Shelby Tuttle. "We didn't hit at all.

"We had some girls in new positions. Some of our kids had to stay home."

Carson returns to action today with two pool-play games. The Senators face Woodland at 10:45 and Whitney of Rocklin at 12:30.
