There are some additions and reconstruction going on in Gibson & Dealey’s saloon corner of Carson and Proctor streets. The saloon is one of the neatest and sells as good grog as any of ‘em — so the dissipated and the ungodly say.

Dr. Nichols of New York has been lecturing police on the various forms of insensibility and the methods of distinguishing them. Fainting, the doctor says, is caused by the flowing of blood from the brain. Proper treatment would be standing the man on his head. San Francisco police do this to every man they arrest … unless they club his head first.
