St. Charles Hotel: George Tufly and his excellent wife are the head of its affairs. The Hotel has just received it annual restoration and reconstruction from the kitchen to the pilot house on the hurricane deck with new paper and new carpets. Uncle George was kind enough to introduce us to the family sanctum, small but comfortable. Curiosities in the cabinet were purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Tufly in Europe. Crayon drawings executed by Miss Terese Tufly, their young daughter, were on exhibit. She is now in school at San Jose.

Not the man: The Mountain Messenger, Downieville, Calif. published the following: Married — Our old friend and “pitcher” James Crawford (who for many years was Superintendent of the Carson Mint) to Miss Mary Porter. Superintendent Crawford in Carson has piles of letters, sewing machines, etc. — All belonging to another man bearing a similar name. Our Crawford was surprised that the bride was not erroneously consigned to him too.
