Carson JV football wins league title

Carson High’s JV football team topped Douglas, 46-15, Thursday night to win the league title with a perfect 4-0 record.

Vic Castro V went 17-for-24 passing for 309 yards and four scores, while Elijah Fajayan rushed for 76 yards and two scores, and had an 85-yard TD reception. Connor Pradere had six catches for 142 yards and a score, while Mathis Williams and Joe Nelson each had a TD reception. Steven Montoya had a 37-yard field goal.

The JV defense, which gave up just 29 points in its last five games, were led by Ian Schulz, who had 10 tackles, two blocked passes, a sack and fumble recovery. Brady O’Keefe and Austin Rudy had 10 tackles apiece, while Ikela Lewis had nine stops. Jared Rooker and Pradere had an interception apiece.

For the year, Carson JV outscored its opponents 330-108. Castro passed for 1548 yards, 17 TDs and two interceptions. Fajayan rushed for 903 yards and 12 scores, while Pradere had eight scores and 462 yards receiving.


VOLLEYBALL

Yerington spikes Reed

Yerington fell to 23-10 overall with a five-set loss to Reed — 25-17, 19-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 12-15 Friday night.

Kassidy Lommori and Chloe Dane had 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Angela Sciarani had 31 digs with Dane and Ashley Rife adding 19 and 16, respectively. Dane led the way in blocks with four, while Rife finished with 32 assists.
