Earthquake: Those who were indoors where pendant objects like lamps and gas fixtures were hanging felt a shock of an earthquake. The Dashaways backed the assertion that it was a shrug of Mother Earth’s broad shoulders and that there might have been a slight squirm. It was not altogether an attack of the jim-jams that suggested the idea.

Sad accident: Mr. and Mrs. H. Springmeyer were absent from their ranch for a while and their 7-year-old son got hold of a shotgun and put in a shell. While playing with his 9-year-old sister, the gun discharged and the little girl’s under jaw was shot away. Her name is Edna, and she will be buried in Genoa.

Illegal fungi: $250,00 worth of hallucinogenic mushrooms were seized by Douglas County investigators in a Kingsbury Grade home. One thousand Mason jars were discovered in the basement of the house. The drug seizure is one of the largest in the state’s history.
