The Dayton volleyball team cruised into the state finals with a three-game sweep over Boulder City Friday afternoon in Henderson.

Dayton won 25-20, 25-18 and 25-13.

“We came out nervous in game one,” said coach Monica Halverson. “Once we settled down, we never trailed.”

Halverson said the Dust Devils made solid mid-game adjustments to contain Boulder City’s best player.

“It was a good game to get us ready for the state finals,” Halverson said.

Leading Dayton was University of Nevada commit Madi Foley with 21 kills, a block and six digs. Ashley Vickers added eight kills, a block and two digs. Cheyanne Strong and Kaylee Turner each added two aces and a kill a piece.

Lettie Lynch added two assists and three digs. Setter Peach Coons served up four aces, had 23 assists, five digs and a kill. Shalia Powell added a kill and an assist. Taryn Schriner had nine digs and two assists for the Dust Devils.

Halverson said the Dust Devils’ serve improved from last week. Dayton had nine aces while serving at 84 percent.

“Peach served great; the entire team did a good job with serving,” she said. She was happy with the team’s defense (27 digs)

Dayton plays Faith Lutheran at noon today for the state championship. Faith Lutheran swept Truckee (25-19, 25-19, 25-21).

“They have a tough strong front line,” Halverson said. “We have to play clean and run our offense and find some holes.

“If we play to our potential, it is going to be a great game.”
