A 19-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday morning on two felony drug counts.
According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office:
A deputy noticed shortly before midnight Tuesday that a vehicle headed north on Roop Street near Northridge Drive had a tail light out, and there was no license plate light. He pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver, Shayla Marie Ferber, 19, if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. He suspected she was lying when she said no, and the deputy had his K9 partner search the vehicle’s exterior after Ferber denied a request to search the interior.
The K9 alerted the deputy that there might be drugs in the vehicle, and the deputy found baggies, a digital scale and a money owed/payment list in the woman’s purse. He then found a marijuana pipe in a cargo pouch and an empty cigarette pack containing a substance resembling marijuana on a floorboard.
The deputy arrested Ferber’s passenger, an 18-year-old Carson City man, on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. The man refused to get in the patrol vehicle and ignored nearly a dozen orders to do so, and he pushed back aggressively as the deputy tried to push him into the car. The deputy forced him to the ground and got him into the car with the help of another deputy. The man also was arrested on suspicion of obstructing.
Ferber was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of drugs with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was advised upon arriving at the Carson City Jail that bringing a controlled substance into the jail would be a felony, and that she would need to disclose any drugs she might be hiding. She refused, and during intake, jail staffers saw her drop a baggie that contained what appeared to be hallucinogenic mushrooms. She was also arrested on suspicion of introducing narcotics into a jail.
Total bail for Ferber was set at $11,000. Bail for the man was set at $1,300. Both remained in custody Wednesday morning at the jail.
