Two Carson City residents were arrested Monday in the 1100 block of Fleetwood Drive on felony drug and other counts.
According to their arrest reports:
Deputies were dispatched to a home on a report of a 19-year-old man who was unconscious and not breathing, suspected to be the result of a heroin overdose. Another 19-year-old man, Matthew Buscay of Carson City, first told a deputy he didn’t know anything about what had happened to the unconscious man, then said the man went to the bathroom several times “acting funny” and then collapsed. Buscay’s father arrived and initially told him not to cooperate with the investigation.
Fire Department workers eventually revived the man, who had a warrant for his arrest. Buscay acknowledged that the man and others had been using heroin in the home and told a deputy he’d thrown away hypodermic devices and a spoon. The deputy found the devices in the trash outside.
The home’s owner consented to a search, and a K9 led deputies to a bedside nightstand containing about 50 small plastic bags. After denying heroin use, Buscay refused to show deputies his bare arms, then said he’d relapsed.
The woman who was staying in the bedroom, Jessie Radabaugh, 18, of Carson City, initially denied that needle marks on her arms were from heroin use, then acknowledged that they were.
Buscay was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and destruction of evidence. Total bail was set at $6,000. Radabaugh was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail was set at $3,500.
Both Buscay and Radabaugh were out of custody by Tuesday afternoon.
