A job fair Friday at Carson City’s Community Center will feature at least 39 employers and a half-dozen job resource organizations at 45 tables where job seekers can make connections.
The event is set for 2-5 p.m. event in the center’s gymnasium, at 851 E. William St. It’s the third such community job fair this year. The previous two resulted in at least 102 people finding employment, according to organizers, and this third event could provide even more opportunities than the average of 51 in each of the earlier fairs.
“Everybody’s hiring for the holidays,” said Lynn Ellis, work force program case manager at city government’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Department. The job fair is put on by HHS, Job Opportunities In Nevada (JOIN) and the city’s Chamber of Commerce. Ellis said it will include private-sector firms that she characterized as “some great ones” with multiple positions to fill.
Ellis noted one firm has 200 warehouse job openings, and a different company wants to hire staffers for three ski resorts. She said job seekers should bring well-prepared background information and dress to impress prospective employers.
