WNC plans Chinese medicine workshop

Peg Schafer, author of “The Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm: A Cultivator’s Guide to Small-Scale Organic Herb Production,” will be featured in Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute’s “The Business of Chinese Herbal Medicines” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at the college’s Carson City campus.

The workshop is a primer for commercial growers interested in diversifying farm operations with an Asian medicinal herb farming or plant nursery component.

Schafer owns the Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm outside Petaluma, Calif.

Registration is required and costs $45, or $55 after Oct. 25. It includes lunch and a copy of Schafer’s book.
