Lee Gilmore, Glenn Stegeman and Mel Younker combined for a net 53 to win the Silver Oak Senior Men’s Club 4-man scramble event on Oct. 1.
The team of Don Fox, Danny Jones, John Scoville and Jim Silsby were second with a 54, which was matched by Vern Payette, Frank Turek and Bob Lewis. The teams of Jim Zewan, Terry Thomas and Doug Smeltzer, and James Barnett, Larry Hamann, Lew Dodgion and Verne Rosse, and Hermann Hartung, Tom Rackersby, Gary Helseth and Martin Johnson tied for fourth with 55s.
Hala, Menezes triumph
Roger Hala and Marc Menezes combined for a net 67 to win Flight A of the Carson Valley Golf Club 2-man Chapman event on Oct. 6.
Charles Serafine and Jim Korzeniewski were four shots back at 71, and Marc Prause and Daryle Lewis were third at 74. Joe Morrison and John Dorman won Flight B with a 68, one stroke better than Mel Ness and Fred Coons. Matt Budjako and Charles Poe were third at 73. Larry and Paul Lockwood won Flight C with a 78, three shots better than John Pearson and John Guidicatti.
Masiello foursome triumphs
John Masiello, Nick Paul, John Lewis and Gary Mick shot a net 119 to win Flight A at Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club Cha-Cha-Cha event on Oct. 2.
The quartet nosed out Terry Thomas, Tim Morsani, Jim Zewan and Bob Warzynski by a stroke. Karl Keller, Bob Hendry, Ken Stone and Mike Rogers won Flight B with a 114. John Sullivan, David Aalbers and George Allison were second at 119.
Singer wins at Thunder Canyon
Saul Singer shot an 80 to win low gross honors at Thunder Canyon’s outing on Oct. 4. Singer and Bob Pike tied for low net honors with 71s.
Larry Goodnight was third with a 73, while Dan Culbert was fourth with a 74. Butch Cattanach and Jeff Gussow tied for fifth with 75s.
Cheryl Lukens and Donna Schellin shot a net 58 in the women’s Cart Opposite Driver event.
Allison grabs crown at Dayton Valley
Seth Allison blew away the field with a 13-stroke victory at the Dayton Valley Palmer Club Championship on Oct. 5-6. Allison shot rounds of 71 and 77 for a 4-over-par 148.
Defending champion Jeff Miller was second, while Bob Frazee was third and Randy Anderson was fourth. John Peters won low net with a 3-over 147. Leo de Lapp was second, Brett Kidd third and Alex Gentry fourth. John Heibel, Gary Leiper, Charlie Morello and Fred Saunders tied for fifth.
Mite Mites post win over Truckee
After a scoreless first half, Eduardo Orozco scored twice to lead the Carson Pop Warner Mitey Mites to a 13-0 win over the Truckee White Wolverines.
Thomas Bradley, Devon Zervo, Tristen Hawkins, Caid Milligan and Nathan McKee were praised for their blocking. Alex Myrehn and Seth Knox had two sacks apiece, while Dawson Main had an interception. David Smith had three pass deflections. Isaac Avina, Quentin Beck and Eli Foust also played well defensively.
WildCats win Reno fast-pitch tourney
The Nevada WildCats 10-U team from Carson moved up a level and won the 12-under Reno Fast Pitch Fall Tournament. Members of the team are Kedre and Kailee Lushar, Amaya Mendeguia, Abby Golik, Lauren Hawkins, Neveya Kaiser, Aspen and Stormy Smokey, and Grace Miller. The team was coached by Dave Watson and Carlos Mendeguia.
