Nykki Kinsley, 81, of Henderson passed away peacefully on October 13. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nykki was born in Sweets, Utah on August 4, 1932.
She was a long-time resident of Henderson and was employed by the administration of the City of Henderson for many years until her appointment to the State of Nevada Prison Board where she served as Parole Commissioner for 17 years until her retirement in 1993.
Nykki also served with the support staff for the Nevada State Legislative sessions for 25 years. She was well known for her knowledge and her sense of humor and she was liked and respected by many during her tenure there.
Nykki was preceded in death by her parents, John and Thora Alverson. She is survived by her four children, Cheri Kinsley, Ron Kinsley, Michele Kinsley, and Joe (Rose) Kinsley; her two grandchildren, Dennis (Stephanie) Kinsley, and Jessica (Hiram) Hernandez, as well as three great grandchildren, Trenton Kinsley, Logan Kinsley, and Thora Hernandez, and her brothers, Bruce Alverson and Brent Alverson.
Nykki is also survived by her cousin and friend, Kay Dwyer; Janice Wiese Hamiter, her friend of over 50 years, and many members of her extended family and good friends. She will be remembered for her zest for life, politics and travel, and her genuine care and concern for all who touched her life. She is loved and fondly remembered for her unique and funny sense of humor and willingness to try new adventures and new experiences.
Private services are scheduled for Saturday, November 2 at Palm Mortuary, Henderson, Nevada.
