Obituary: Joseph O’Neill Tapp

Joseph O’Neill Tapp died October 29, 2013 at Carson Tahoe Hospital. He was born in Puritan, Colorado on February 12th, 1919, in a coal mining camp.

Mr. Tapp worked for NASA and upon his retirement he and his wife moved from Ely, Nevada to Carson City where they lived for 40 years.

Joe opened his own business Joe Tapp Reality where he was a successful broker. He was always active in volunteering, 17 years as a driver for RSVP, The Knights of Columbus, Carson City Sheriffs Department, school bus driver, and numerous other charities.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Rose Travis. He is survived by his children, Larry Tapp of Jacks Valley, Tim Tapp (Stephanie) of Jacks Valley, Nora Monfredini (John) San Francisco, Cathy Maclean of Reno, Cindy Tapp (Greg) of Dayton; his grandchildren, Michael Feld (Carrie) of Wilton CA., Rachel Maclean of Reno, Travis Tapp of Carson City, Brandy and Brittany Tapp of Sparks, Zachary Tapp of Tampa Fla., Emily Dickerson and Barbie Bustamonte.

A Rosary will be Friday, November 1, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Walton’s Chapel in Carson City. The Funeral Mass is set for Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. St. Teresa Catholic Church also in Carson City. Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is in charge of final arrangements.
