Carson High’s home soccer match Wednesday night was postponed because of poor air quality. The games are expected to be made up at a later date.

The NIAA called off games in Douglas, Carson, Mono, Storey and Washoe counties. El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Lyon and Churchill were cleared to host games on Wednesday.

The NIAA said it will decide at 1 p.m. whether Thursday’s contests can be played. Donnie Nelson, assistant commissioner of the NIAA, said that the fate of Friday football games will be determined on Friday at 1 p.m. Bob Bateman, Carson athletic director, said that there is a possibility that the game against Reno could be moved to Lovelock or Winnemucca. If weather gets worse in Dayton, the Dust Devils have talked to Lovelock about hosting their game against Spring Creek.

If football games are scheduled at neutral sites, Henderson said it’s his understanding that only varsity games would be played.
