RENO — Ryan Galvan scored two goals and Cristian Hernandez added one to lead Carson to a 3-1 come-from-behind win over Galena on Wednesday afternoon in a Sierra League boys soccer match.

The win evened Carson’s record at 1-1 heading into Saturday’s home match (1 p.m.) against Bishop Manogue.

“It was a tale of two halves,” Carson coach Mehdi Samii said. “In the first half Galena moved the ball very well. We were not pressuring them and they controlled possession.”

Galena took a 1-0 lead in the opening half, and had a chance to make it 2-0 but goalie Gustavo Villagrana stopped penalty kick.

“That kept us in the game,” Samii said.

Two minutes later, Hernandez crossed the ball to Galvan, who tied it with a diving header. Six minutes later, Hernandez scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. Galvan completed the scoring with his second goal.

“All the players played great,” Samii said. “We used 20 players and it was a total team effort.”

SPARKS — The Dust Devils lost their goalie during pre-game warm-ups and then lost starting forward Gemma Ramirez 10 minutes into the game in a 4-0 loss to the Railroaders.

“Even with those tragic losses, we stepped up a team and made things happen,” Dayton coach Jared Miklich said. “Mia Picou played goalie and did an outstanding job (22 saves). She did a great job coming out for the ball. She made quite a few diving saves and didn’t give up many rebounds.”

Miklich praised the play of defenders Kylie Pack and Perla Landa as well as forward Madison Reid, who had four shots on goal. Jessie Ingham had five shots on goal.
