Obituary: Frank Charles Page

March 6, 1931 - September 8, 2013

Frank C. Page passed away peacefully on September 8th after fighting valiantly against complications resulting from open-heart surgery. A remarkable husband and father, he was surrounded by his wife and children when God called him home.

Frank Page was born in Bend, Oregon on March 6, 1931, to Genevieve and Francis Page. After entering the Marines at 15 years of age (after forging the necessary documents), he served his country and was honorably discharged into civilian life in 1946. Several years later, he met his soul mate in Reno, Lorene Nelson, and began a love affair that lasted 63 years. After an insistent courtship where Frank would not accept “no” for an answer, and passing the necessary familial inspections, Lorene granted Frank her hand in marriage on September 3, 1950, in Reno, Nevada.

Professionally, Frank was a devoted public servant, working as a design engineer with the Nevada Department of Transportation for over 35 years, involved with many highway design and safety projects throughout the state of Nevada. In his last years of state service, Frank focused on decreasing highway fatalities through improvement of safety design protocols. He proudly served under numerous Governors and directors in that time and reluctantly retired from state service in 1986.

In addition to being an devoted public servant, loving father and husband, Frank was also known as an tireless advocate for senior retiree rights and often displayed a willingness to take on local politicians and bureaucrats hell-bent on pushing public policies that appeared to have little public benefit to the taxpayers of Carson City. Direct and to the point, Frank usually left little to the imagination as to what he was thinking when he addressed city hall.

Frank and his wife have been residents of Carson City since 1951, and members of the First Presbyterian Church since 1953, serving tirelessly over the years as volunteers committed to helping others and practicing their faith through actions and deeds. Above all else, he was a man who loved God and his family.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorene Page, who is still a resident of Carson City. He is also survived by his two children, Denise Page (Dave Vill) and Craig Page (Terrie), and grandchildren Brendan Page, Katie, Paul, and Greg Williams (Vanae), and two great grandchildren, Danton and Gibson.

To celebrate Frank’s life, a memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City on Saturday, September 14th, at 11:00. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers that donations be given to the First Presbyterian Church to carry on the ministry of faith he believed so strongly in.
