James Thomas Richardson most known by Tom Richardson passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 10, 2013 at Evergreen Mountain View Center in Carson City, Nevada. Tom had been a resident in Nevada for the past 6 ½ years, living most of them at his mobile home in Aspen Park located in Gardnerville, NV. The past few years he very much enjoyed sitting on his front porch and talking with any passing neighbor everyday throughout the year despite the weather.
Tom was born in Newburgh, Indiana. He grew up in a farming community and spent a number of his early years on the farm. In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1956. After the Navy, Tom lived in Southern California for many years where he drove semi trucks hauling demolition debris, dry cement and sand. In the late 1980s he move to the Victoria, Virginia area where he farmed tobacco a few years and then worked for and retired from State of Virginia Department of Corrections as a Locksmith and Ground Maintenance.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors all of his life. He grew up hunting and fishing in Newburgh, Indiana. After the Navy he continued hunting deer and upland game birds. His strongest passion was for fishing. He could fish all day and tell the whopper fish stories afterwards.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Olden & Maude Richardson; his brother, Clay Richardson; sisters; Dora Herr, Pauline Cavanaugh & Mildred Probert.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Richardson; son, Rich Richardson and his wife, Dana; granddaughters, Ashley Laverdure, Michelle Richardson & Tara Richardson; great granddaughter, Taylee Laverdure. Also, his stepson, Jeff Moran and wife, Jeanette; step daughter, Wendy Kassel; stepson, Kenny Walton; and stepson, Mike Walton; step grand children, Jeffrey Moran Jr., Sara Moran, Thomas Womack, Brett Moran, Kathy Williams, Elizabeth Jackson, Kindra Stephens, Cori West, Ila Schepisi & Deanna Lacks; and 14 step great grandchildren; he also is survived by his two sisters, Aggi Villalobos her husband, Gus and Delores Pace-Richardson.
A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Victoria, Virginia, on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00a.m. All friends and family members are invited to attend.
