Obituary: Sarah Suzanne Landell

Beloved Wife, Sister and Aunt, long time Carson City resident Sarah Suzanne Landell, 64 passed away suddenly May 17, 2013 at Renown Medical Center in Reno.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 Roop Street, Carson City. Service will be followed by a gathering at The Plaza Hotel Event Center.

A Nevada native, she was born Sarah Suzanne Morrison on September 22, 1948 in Reno, the daughter of Colonel Robert Morrison and Julia Bernice (Bernie) Trimbell Morrison.

She attended 13 schools in six states prior to graduation from Washburn High School in Topeka Kansas in 1967.

Following graduation in 1970 from Patricia Stevens Career College in Phoenix, Arizona, she began a 10-year career in Nevada State Service in Carson City, working first for the Tax Commission, and later as a Statistical Research Assistant at the Employer Security (ESD) Department.

It was while working for ESD that she met her husband, Charles Victor (Vic) Landell. They celebrated their fortieth anniversary in Carson City in 2012.

Primarily a homemaker, she was also active helping the human rights organization Amnesty International, enjoyed baking, caring for her family and her dogs, researching her family’s genealogy, and the natural beauty of Western Nevada, particularly the wildlife reserve of Lake Glen Manor where she made her home in Carson City for the final 25 years of her life.

She was fiercely proud of her Scottish family heritage and her natural family’s military tradition.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Andrew Morrison of Tucson, Arizona; nephew, Albert Morrison of Fort Gordon, Georgia; niece, Oriana Morrison of Phoenix, Arizona; niece, Mayanne Getts Coyne of Reno; nephews, Chauncey Griswold of Reno Gilbert Landell of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Brendan Landell of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania; four great-nieces; five great-nephews and her final beloved dog, Billy.
