LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trial is delayed in California for a former Las Vegas-area lawmaker accused of leading police on a California freeway chase, resisting arrest and attacking a police dog the day he was expelled from the Nevada Assembly.
Prosecutor Shannon Faherty said a Friday that Steven Brooks’ court date was reset to Nov. 1 in San Bernardino County Superior Court in Victorville.
Brooks’ defense attorney, Sean O’Connor, didn’t immediately respond to a message.
Brooks pleaded not guilty Aug. 6 to evading and obstructing an officer and throwing a substance at a police vehicle, felonies, and misdemeanor harming a police animal.
He’s being held on $100,000 bail at the San Bernardino County Jail in San Bernardino.
The former North Las Vegas Democrat was expelled from the Legislature March 28 as a security threat.
