Carolyn Rachel Aster, loving mother, loving wife and loving Gamma, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home in Minden, Nevada, on March 29, 2014 after an eighteen month long struggle with cancer. Carol was born on December 26, 1941 in Chicago, IL. Carol will be loved and missed by her husband Walt Aster, her children and their spouses, Jim and Denise Aster, Patricia and Mark Balocco, Richard and Allison Aster, and Barbara and Patrick Washington, along with her eight grandchildren, Anthony, Paige, Derek, Matthew, Ryan, Sierra, Kiley and Ashley. The grandchildren knew her as Gamma. In addition to raising her four children, Carol loved to help others, which showed brightly in her teaching of sign language to deaf and special needs children.Carol always put family first and made sure that no one ever went away from her home hungry.Carol always had a smile for everyone she met. Carol’s optimism was both inspirational and encouraging to all who were blessed to know her.
