Carson woman arrested at Walmart for allegedly slapping boy

Ashley Rose Mields, 31, of Carson City was arrested at Walmart on Market Street after allegedly slapping a boy in the face.

According to her arrest report:

Several customers called 911 to complain that a woman struck her child in the store. When the deputy arrived, he asked to speak to the 6-year-old child alone.

The boy signaled that he’d been struck in his right eye. The deputy watched the surveillance video, which showed the woman suddenly strike the boy in the face. The woman grabbed him by the arm and led him in a rush out of the store.

The boy was released to his grandmother. Mields was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse/neglect, causing mental or physical harm. Bail was set at $40,000.
