Richard Neil Getschman went to be with his eternal father, April 18, 2014. He was born February 17, 1930 to Ruth Murray and Chester Edward Frank Getschman, in Kenosha, WI. He was reared in Steubenville, Ohio and joined the Air Force out of high school. He graduated from the College of Steubenville in 1956. Richard worked for Boeing Air Craft, EG&G and other government contract companies as an Induatrial Educator. He married Linda Lou Polen on September 9, 1967. In 1971 he moved his family from Henderson, NV to Carson City for a job in the Employment Security Department and then transferred to the Nevada Welfare Department as training and hearing officer. Richard retired in 1992 and began enjoying his love of working with wood. He made many toys for his grandchildren and friends of the family. He built a small two man tug boat which did have a day on Lake Tahoe. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill and Sister-in-law Sarah Julia. He is survived by his brother Robert (Goldye) in Meadville, PA, sister Chimera (Leo) Smith in Traverse City, MI, wife of 46 ½ years, Linda, daughter Nancy (Vince) Frontino, son Tedman (Zelda) Getschman, grandchildren AJ Frontino; Jack, Tenley, Auden, and Sawyer Getschman, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Dick’s favorite charities. Memorial service will be 11:00, Saturday, April 26th at the First United Methodist Church, corner of Musser and Division Streets in Carson City, NV. Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is in charge of the final arrangements.
