Registration is still open for the second annual Genoa Peak Madathon marathon and half-marathon races being held Saturday in Genoa.
Online registration closes tonight and sign-ups will be accepted up until Friday during packet pick-ups from noon until 6 p.m. at Genoa Park.
The marathon starts at 6 a.m. and the half-marathon at 6:30 a.m. from Genoa Park, located on Nixon Street in downtown Genoa.
The event features the “Completely Mad” marathon with more than 5,000 feet of climbing to the top of 9,150-foot Genoa Peak and back, as well as the “Only Half Mad” half-marathon course which rises to an altitude of 6,300 feet. Spectators will not be allowed on the course during the races.
Entries have already been received from runners representing Massachusets, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois and Florida.
Race director Kevin Bigley noted that first responder medical services are being provided by Douglas County Search & Rescue, a beneficiary of proceeds from the race along with the Carson Valley Trails Association.
Event parking will be available at Antiques Plus, three blocks south of the center of town immediately after the post office.
