The 5th annual Chairman’s Scramble Golf Tournament is set for Sept. 26 at Silver Oak Golf Course.
The tournament will benefit Carson High’s Skills USA and ProStart culinary teams.
The cost is $95 per player which includes golf, range tokens, cart, appetizers, no-host cocktail reception, awards and dinner. Yu can sponsor a hole for $150 and dinner only is $25. A hole-in-one wins $10,000, and that is sponsored by Carson City Toyota-Scion.
Fax entry fee to the Carson Chamber of Commerce at 882-4179. Entry deadline is Sept. 5.
Junior golf clinic
set for CVGC
Rob Harbottle of Carson Valley Golf Club is starting a six-week program for junior golfers.
The cost is $20 and starts the week of Sept. 8. Participants attend a session either Tuesday or Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. Each class lasts 50 minutes. For more information, call 782-9828.
• Marc Prause shot a net 67 win Flight A at the recent Carson Valley Men’s Club tournament. He beat Charles Serafine by two strokes and Jack Sparman by three. G. Paulsen won Flight B with a 68, one stroke better than Dave Morris and two better than Brick Ludington.
Jack Zippwald won Flight C with a 67 followed by Jor Morrison at 69 and Jim Arens at 71. Frank Temple won Flight D with a 68 followed by John Guidicatti at 70 and Bill Centers at 71.
Hammon wins top
flight at Empire
Bill Hammon shot a net 62 to win the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club A flight on Aug. 20. He beat Bruce Serpa by two shots and George Flamer, Jim Shabi and Gene Gaston by three.
Fred Perdomo won Flight B with a 64 followed by Bob Pitcock with a 66 and Steve Scharfe at 68. Duane Clark took Flight C with a 60, while Phil Polaske shot 63 and Moe Dias 64. Robert Blom won Flight D with a 62, while Greg Bently and Peter Youngdahl shot 65s.
• Empire’s Nine and Dine summer finale is Aug. 22. The cost is $75 which includes a prime rib dinner and golf.

Burchett wins state
hoop competition
Thomas Burchett, a student at Seeliger Elementary, took third in the regional Hoop Shoot in Las Vegas.
He won local, district and state tournaments to reach regionals. He competed in the 8-9 age group. Burchett is already working toward next year’s events.
