Robert A. (Bob) Whitney (91), passed away on November 8, 2014 at the home of his son in Star, Idaho. Bob and his wife of 70 years, June S. Whitney (92), relocated to Idaho after living in Carson City for 55 years. Bob was preceded in death by his wife who passed away on September 18, 2014. Both were very active in their local community and their church. Bob was a civil engineer (retired) for the Bureau of Reclamation and also served his country during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1945 after surviving the “Battle of the Bulge”. Bob was a Technician Fourth Grade (Sergeant) for Company B 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion. June was a home-maker and also worked for the Carson City school system and the Able House. Together, Bob and June raised two daughters and a son. All three children were graduates of Carson High School. Bob and June also leave behind six grand children ranging in age from 6 to 47. A memorial service was held in October to celebrate June’s life. A memorial service to honor Bob will be held at 2pm on December 6, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, Carson City. Those who knew the couple will remember Bob’s keen sense of humor and demeanor of personal integrity. June always greeted with a smile and maintained a desire to please her family and friends with good cooking and stories about her life. The family extends this invitation to celebrate the lives of the inseparable couple at the service on December 6. They are both missed.
