Carson City Chamber of Commerce unveils remodel

After a four year search for a building downtown, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce found itself the owner of the building at 1900 S. Carson St., which the Chamber has occupied since the building was built in 1988.

The Carson City Visitors Bureau moved to the center of the downtown, vacating its first-floor space in the jointly-owned building.

After a complete remodel by local contractors, the Chamber moved the administrative offices from the second floor to the first floor. The second floor was turned into two meeting rooms — a board room to seat 12 and a training room to seat about 40. The meeting rooms are available to members and the public for a fee.

The building comprises 4,000 square feet — 2,000 on each floor. There are plans for a spring remodel of the front entry.

The Chamber also unveiled its new gift shop showcasing regional artists, six of which will be displaying and selling their metal art, pottery, beauty products, glass art and more during an open house last week.

The Chamber and the artisan store are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and on weekends when there is an event at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

There are 600 regional members of the Chamber, which operates the annual Leadership Carson City Institute and holds ribbon-cuttings and grand openings for new businesses. Ronni Hannaman has been its executive director since 2006.
