Green Bay Packer fans Chris Ostrander and Rebecca Ostrander ring bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle program in front of the Topsy Lane Walmart on Monday.
The Packers fans won the challenge against the 49ers fans tonight as they rang their bells at The Salvation Army Red Kettle Ring Off. The Packers fans raised $226.51 and the 49ers fans raised $143.34. The protest kettles for “Any other Team” raised $14.25. The challenge took place at the Wal-Mart on Topsy Lane on Monday. The total collected was $384.10 which makes the real winners of this contest the less fortunate families that The Salvation Army will be able to help do to the hard work of both team’s fans and the generosity of the donors.
The money raised in The Salvation Army Red Kettles will be used to help local families. $384.10 is equal to about 11 needy families receiving a food box that will help feed them for a week. It is also nearly enough for two disadvantaged kids to go to summer camp. Money that is raised in the Red Kettles helps serve the community throughout the year and The Salvation Army is excited to see the community come together in a fun way to help them achieve their mission.
