Bonny Boehler

June 3, 1941 - Dec. 6, 2014

Bonny was born into a Lovelock pioneer family and lived there until she trained as an X-ray technician at Washoe Med. Reno. Bonny went on to accomplish many more things during her life. Bonny wrote her own obituary a couple of years ago and in her honor here it is. “Bonny Pfeifer, Cress, Boehler”, born in Winnemucca, NV to Edna & Hallie Pfeifer June 3, 1941.

That was a good year! Bonny died from complications of pulmonary fibrosis, a lung illness that she had for many years. A Dr. told her 12 years ago, she had a year to live.

Fooled him! Now about passing peacefully.. not in your wildest dreams, if you know me!!I had too many plants to save, cats to rescue, hunting, bass fishing, fish pond and a diabetic dog Skeeter to care for. Every year we would decorate our Christmas tree with lights for all to enjoy on 9th & Lamoille and a grand flower bed outside our fence to be enjoyed by all. I had a wonderful husband that needed constant “supervision”. (He doesn’t believe it though!!) I graduated from Pershing High, Lovelock, NV. And moved to Reno, going to Radiology School. I married Robert Cress in 1963 and later divorced (1966). I also have a son Tim Cress (Lisa & granddaughters Illa and Eva).I moved to Alaska and worked at a Catholic hospital until Fairbanks had a major flood, which closed the hospital. Moved to Elko and worked at Elko General Hospital in x-ray and nuclear medicine for nine years. I marred Mahlon (SAM) Boehler in 1976 and shortly after retired to the world of Boehler Construction. I loved it. Playing in the backhoe, blade, loader and getting my CDL to drive truck. What a life. Every bit of it fun, over the top!! I still kept Sam around to let me supervise him!

I had a brother Hallie who was killed in a school hay ride, and have a still living sister Mary Van Blarcom. I was preceded in death by my brother Hallie Jr., father Hallie Pfeifer, stepfather Ken Rasley (the best), mother Edna Rasley, and stepson Rance Boehler. I met and enjoyed many nice people while here! What a life. Anyone who knew me either loved me or hated me because you learned early on my attitude to life and love!! A spade is a spade not a **@&#$ shovel!! No services are to be held, that is why I am saying my piece now - just in case it is edited (for sure) later!.

P.S. Sam has to pay for this obit, it is to be taken from his coffee allowance!! I wasn’t bad looking either! Bye now and don’t fret. It was great while it lasted!! - Bonny

Life: Don’t cry because it’s over - Smile because it happened! (Yep its going to be edited!) As co-owner of Boehler Construction, it was not always fun and games. Long hours. Bonny learned bookkeeping, became adept at computers and managed our office efficiently. Plus she was able to fill in if necessary with a truck or loader. Bonny survived pulmonary fibrosis, but not cancer. Bonny is survived by her husband Mahlon (Sam) Boehler, sister Mary Van Blarcom, son Tim (Lisa) Cress & family, all of Elko. Stepsons Patrick (Corrine) Boehler & family, Denton, TX. Craig Boehler, Fallon, Nv. Adam (Tami) Boehler & family Burly, ID & numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Many, many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the hospital and Highland Manor. Your care and compassion was greatly appreciated. Public viewing at Burns Funeral Home, Monday, December 15 from 1:00pm. To 6:00pm. Short memorial and grave side services will be held at Burns Funeral Home on Dec. 16, 2014 at 1:00pm., with a meet and greet to follow at the Red Lion in the Ruby Valley room.
