CARLSBAD, Calif. — Carson High opened the 25th annual Torrey Pines Holiday Classic with a narrow 38-37 win over Laguna Friday night at Carlsbad High School.
The win sends the Senators, 4-3 overall, intro a winner’s bracket game today at 3:45 against Murrieta Valley.
Carson led the whole way, but Laguna had a chance to win with 4.5 seconds left and missed the last shot.
Carson led 26-11 at the half, but was outscored 26-12 in the final half.
“It was a tale of two halves,” said Carson assistant coach Dick Lee. “We turned them over in the first half, but we couldn’t do it the second half. We got in some foul trouble in the second half, and they got more aggressive in the second half and their shots started to fall.”
Cameron Price and Jayden DeJoseph led Carson’s offense with 12 points apiece, while Tez Allen added six. Allen led Carson rebounders with six.
