Valentine’s Dinner to take place at Carson High

Ye are hereby and forthwith most humbly invited to partake of our Valentine’s Day Madrigal dinner feast — one night only. The dinner will be Feb. 14, in Senator Square with seating and silent bidding to commence at half past five of the clock in the evening.

A complete evening of entertainment and a hearty meal will be served. Featuring chamber choir and concert choir performances in period costumes, a period feast catered by the high school’s culinary arts department, a senior project play by our own resident bard Dylan Shirey, and finally a silent auction with items from Disney tickets and Oregon Shakespeare Festival tickets to gift certificates and gift baskets.

Tickets are available from Mr. Sonnemaker or any concert choir or chamber choir student for this lovely evening at a cost of $20 per person through Tuesday morning. Tickets after 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday will be $25 each. Funds will go toward helping these students attend a choral festival in California in May.

ART STUDENTS WIN

Three award winning CHS ceramic art students were represented at this year’s Scholastic Art and Writing awards ceremony. Rachel Ratt, Jamie Allred and Tatyanna Spence will all be recognized for their outstanding work at the Nevada Museum of Art. Rachel received an honorable mention for her mixed media ceramic mask, Jamie will be awarded a Silver Key award for her mixed media sculpture and Tatyanna earned two Silver key awards for her animal ceramic sculptures. Congratulations to these students for exceptional work!

SPRING SPORTS

Spring sport sign-ups will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday in the north foyer. Now is the time to get your sports packets completed for new athletes.

All fines and fees must be cleared prior to tryouts. Spring sports include baseball, softball, boys golf, swimming and track. See the Athletic Office for more information.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

This week’s senior spotlight is on Morgan Barton. Morgan has driven herself by choosing numerous advance-placement and honors courses every year she’s been in high school.

She holds a 4.64 grade-point average. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been involved in Link Crew for the past two years. In addition, Morgan has spent the last two years helping struggling math students by offering her services as a math tutor.

Morgan’s interests are traveling, fashion and fitness. She would like to combine her love of travel with a career in business. Her plans are to pursue a degree in international business at Hawaii Pacific University or a university in the Pacific Northwest. Her goal is to become a buyer for a fashion company.

Carson High School is proud to spotlight such a bright and dedicated student. Join me in congratulating Morgan on her accomplishments.
