Applicants who are business operators or property owners are being sought by the Carson City Board of Supervisors for consideration to fill a spot on the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee.

The applicants must have holdings in Redevelopment Area 1, which encompasses the city’s downtown core and environs, plus the Costco property on the city’s south side. The bulk of the area is along and both sides of Carson Street from the Carson Mall on the south to a few blocks north of William Street, as well as east along William Street and both sides of it to Saliman Road.

The successful applicant will serve without compensation and make recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority, which is the Board of Supervisors meeting in that capacity. The term expires in January 2017 and requires a commitment of about 10 hours monthly.

The board also is seeking applicants for an opening on the city’s Share Tree Council. The council provides advice on maintaining a healthy and attractive urban forest. The term expires in January, 2015 for the volunteer selected, who should figure on about 10 hours monthly as well.

Applications may be obtained from and returned to the city’s Executive Offices, 201 N. Carson St., Unit 2, at 201 N. Carson St.
