A 27-year-old Dayton man was arrested at Caroline and Valley streets on three felony drug-related counts.

According to the man’s arrest report:

A confidential informant told a deputy with the Special Enforcement Team about 3 p.m. Friday that he/she could arrange a purchase of about $80 worth of heroin from a man named Gilbert. The informant was fitted with a wire and met with the man, later identified as Gilbert Raymond Ramirez, about 5:30 p.m. in front of the Carson City Library.

Ramirez insisted that he’d only complete the transaction inside the library. A deputy told the informant to walk to a different location, and as the informant, Ramirez and Ramirez’s girlfriend were walking, Ramirez began to hand four balloons containing heroin to the informant. The informant gave an arrest signal, and Ramirez appeared to swallow the heroin when he saw a Special Enforcement Team vehicle approaching.

Ramirez’s girlfriend acknowledged the transaction to a deputy and said she didn’t know whether Ramirez still had heroin on him. Ramirez denied any knowledge of the transaction and said the informant had owed him money.

Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and selling/transporting schedule 1/2 drugs. Total bail was set at $35,000.

Ramirez remained in custody Monday at the Carson City Jail.
