A shooting scrape in Gold Hill. About eight yesterday, two young men named Thomas Coleman and Charles Cullnan had an altercation while taking a drink at the Union Saloon, Gold Hill. Cullnan ran up to the depot closely pursued by Coleman. Seeing he was being pursued, Cullnan ran round the depot. Colman headed him off by running in the opposite direction and commenced shooting. The second shot carried off part of Cullnan’s right eyebrow. At this juncture conductor Sheenan, who happened to be standing on the platform, collared Coleman and disarmed him. After getting possession of the pistol, he fired off the remaining cartridges and then broke the pistol over the cow catcher. Constable Harkin arrested Coleman and is being held awaiting action of the Grand Jury on a charge of assault with intent to commit murder.
