Detlef Funke passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada due to a brain hemorrhage. He was born in Germany to the late Johannes and Clara Funke. He was the third of four siblings. He spent three years in a trade school/apprenticeship in cosmetology. He continued on for another year to obtain a masters in cosmetology. He then did a tour of service in the German military. He came over to the United States in 1964 where he resided in Elko, Nevada. He met his wife Ina and they were married in 1966. They relocated to Carson City, Nevada in 1975. He had a passion for fishing, hunting and gardening. He was very proud to live in America and he obtained his US Citizenship. He lived his life as a quiet, honest and loyal man. His belief in hard work and great love for his family and friends was his trade mark. He touched the lives of many people and he will be greatly missed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Detlef is survived by his three sons: Mark (Chantalle), Kai (Wendy) and Kim; and his cherished grandchildren - Trent, Conner, Jakob & Bethany. Services will be a private family
