Donald L. Showalter, passed away February 10, 2014. He was a 52 year resident of Carson City, Nevada. Born in Wenatchee, WA. On March 16, 1943 to Lloyd & Mabel Showalter. Donald worked for R.B. Saddler as a mechanic, A.K. Wilson, Capital Equipment Repair, Daves Auto Repair/Savage, Eagle Valley Construction and eventually landing at N.D.O.T. in the Maintenance shop in 1980. He was known for his ability to fabricate. Donald refabricated the snow plow frame and also was recognized by the N.H.P. for the “Vince & Larry” test crash vehicle and trailer. He retired from N.D.O.T. in 2002 after 22 years. He was very active in Little League, Major League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He helped coach the Carson Capitals from 1982-1983. Donald was very active member in the Fraternal order of Eagles #1006 for 41 years and served as Aerie President from 1977-1980, State President from 2008-2009, past Worthy State

President of Comstock Aerie 523 from 1996-1997, dual member of Basic Aerie 2672 of Henderson, NV., member of E Clampus Vitus 1827 Snow Shoe Thompson. He was an avid outdoorsman & loved hunting, fishing, camping & horse back riding. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Harriett Smith, Linda Showalter & step-son Richard Nielson. Among his survivors are his wife Janice of 47 years, sons Brian & David Showalter, sisters Marian Saddler, Margaret Larry & Gloria Hensley, step-son Carl Nielson, numerous nieces & nephews. A celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles Lodge (1380 E. Fifth St. CC, NV.) on Saturday March 1, 2014 at 2:00p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the F.O.E. #1006
