Janice Showalter

Janice L. Howard Showalter, 77, passed away February 20, 2014 in Reno, Nevada. She was born in Carson City, Nevada on Jan. 8, 1937 to Morris & Elsie Howard. She graduated from Carson High class of 1955. She married Donald Showalter June 2, 1967 in Carson City. She was a homemaker and retired from the State of Nevada in 2004 as a telephone operator. She was very active in baseball with her children. Janice loved to crochet & knit and play the piano. Janice was a very active member of the F.O.E. #1006 auxiliary for 40 years. She was Madam President from 1992 - 1993. She was a very devoted mother and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald on Feb. 10, 2014, parents Morris & Elsie, son Richard Nielson, brothers Bob Christensen & Raymond Howard. Among her survivors are her sons Carl Nielson, Brian & David Showalter, brothers Jack Christensen, Bob, George & Jack Howard, & numerous nieces & nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles Lodge (1380 E. Fifth St. CC, NV) on Saturday March 1, 2014 at 2:00p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the F.O.E. #1006
