Following are the Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections for Jan. 9. All scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:
Carson Lanes, Alley’s Snack Bar, 4600 Snyder Ave., scored 100 points.
Food for Thought, 3246 N. Carson St., Suite 118, 100 points.
High Sierra Brewing Co., 302 N. Carson St., 100 points.
7-Eleven, 3701 N. Carson St., 100 points.
Victor’s Salsa, 240 E. Winnie Lane, 100 points.
Wally’s Pizza & Subs, 4600 Snyder Ave., Suite D, 100 points.
Walmart Supercenter, bakery, 3200 Market St., 100 points.
Walmart Supercenter, grocery, 3200 Market St., 100 points.
Bully’s, 3530 N. Carson St., 98 points. Speed gun holsters and drain hoses were dirty, so the hoses were not draining properly. The surfaces under the bar mats that hold clean glassware were dirty.
McDonald’s, 3344 N. Carson St., 98 points. Frozen hamburger patties were found stored in a cardboard box and in non-food grade plastic bags in the walk-in freezer, corrected on site.
Capital City Liquor, 1511 N. Carson St., 97 points. Bags of ice manufactured and packed on site were not properly labelled. The ice machine was dirty with biofilm build-up.
Sassafras, 318 N. Carson St., 97 points. The ice scoop storage container was dirty. Areas of ceiling and light shields had grease and dust buildup. Light shields under the grease hood had heavy grease buildup. One light cover was missing, and shelving throughout the kitchen needed cleaning.
Keva Juice, 2320 S. Carson St., Suite 2, 90 points. There was no thermometer inside the reach-in at the front service areas. Boxes and drink containers of foods were found stored on the floor inside the freezer walk-in. The front counter reach-in had a buildup of water inside. Containers used to store ice scoops (above the ice machine) were not kept clean inside. The perimeter of the floors in the service and kitchen areas was not clean. A certified food handler was not present.
McDonald’s, 3200 Market St., 87 points. There was no chlorine or Quat measurable residual sanitizer in the third basin of the three-compartment sink. Two of the three kitchen hand sinks were blocked, one with a food utensil and the other with a tray with a drink on top, corrected on site. The thermometer inside the reach-in to the left of the service kitchen hand sink was broken. The ice scoop was stored improperly at the kitchen ice machine, corrected on site. Both ice machines in the customer self-service drink area and in the rear of the kitchen) were dirty inside with biofilm buildup. Caulking behind the three-compartment sink was black with mold.
