May 15, 1969 - Dec. 27, 2013

Jerry Smithers passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2013 in Oregon where he had been living for the past few years. Jerry was born in Hanford, California and moved with his family to Fallon in 1972. He attended Fallon schools and lived off of Shecklar Cut-off where he spent much of his youth playing in the Carson River. Jerry spent some of his adult life living in Juneau, Alaska and worked on the Alaska fishing boats. Jerry is survived by his mother Lory Smithers, step-father Tom Smithers, sister Debi Henning, sister Dona Burke, sister Terry Clark, sister Brinda Funk, sister Traci Smithers and numerous nephews and nieces. A private celebration of life will be held for family in February. “When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little-but not for long. And not your head bowed low. Remember the love that once we shared. Miss me, but let me go. For this journey we must all take, And each must go alone. It’s all part of the master plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, Laugh at all the things we used to do. Miss me, but let me go.” Anon.
