Obituary June Marie Christie

January 23, 1924 - January 12, 2014

June Marie Christie passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014, 11 days before her 90th birthday, surrounded by loved ones. June was born January 23, 1924 in Hemlock, Michigan on a dairy farm. She was the sixth of ten children. When she was eighteen she joined the army and served in Hawaii during WWII. June was preceded in death by her husband Victor, parents Herman and Emma Walter and beloved brother Don Walter. June and Vic moved to Fallon in 1951. She loved Nevada, the mountains, wildlife, hunting, and fishing with her family and also trapping with Claudia. June was a very competitive bowler, golfer and card player. June loved her children and especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her generosity, pickles, jams, rice pudding, chicken salad, apple pies, reception salad and wild rice stuffing. June is survived by her four daughters; Pamela and Garry Banks of Gardnerville NV, Penelope and Jim Horner of San Diego, CA; Patrice and Bill Luisi of Gilbert, AZ; and Claudia and Mick Casey of Fallon. Three sons Butch and Charmaine Christie of Fallon, Brian Christie of Eureka, NV; and Bill Christie of Fallon. Also survived by Ernie Wood and Leonard Travis, 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 6 great great grandchildren with one on the way. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 18, at 2:00PM at the Threshingfloor Church, 360 S. Maine St. We love you Mom, we love you grandma. See you on the other side.
