Funeral: The little daughter of Conductor Follet was buried and had services at the Episcopal church. The edifice was packed with people. The coffin was covered with roses, smilax, and delicate vines that surrounded the gentle face of the child who lay as if in slumber. The choir sang “Precious Jewels” and “Thy Will be Done.” Mrs. Bender, Miss Fannie Dorsey, and Miss Wasson rendered the singing, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Dorsey.

If you are having trouble with wartime lipstick cases made of cardboard, coat them with colorless nail polish. Don’t let your dime store jewelry tarnish. Preserve its shine with a coating of colorless nail polish.

Desert gardeners: In honor of Nevada’s 100th birthday, the Desert Gardeners plan a special centennial celebration. Mrs. Ruth Thom’s home in Reno will be the locale for the gay social event ... Mrs. Thom gave an interesting sketch of the history of the old James Thom residence at 308 N. Curry in Carson City which was recently demolished. It was built in 1862 by Hoosier J. Neely Johnson. He was governor of California before coming to Nevada. The home was the site of the signing of the Nevada Constitution.
