Leo Scanlon Bailey, Sr. passed into glory peacefully at his home from an extended illness on January 20, 2014. Leo has been a resident of Fallon and Fernley, Nevada for the past 35 years as he concluded his military service and entered retirement. Leo Bai-ley was born in Lebonon, Delaware on November 5, 1933 (Father, Neil Cotteau Bailey; Mother, Mildred Bennett). During his time in the military he was recognized numerous times as he received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achieve-ment Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Meritorius, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commenda-tion. He retired as a Master Chief. Leo was preceded in death by loved ones: George Bailey (Brother), William Bailey (Brother), Dolores Bailey (Sis-ter), Doral Beth Bailey (Wife), and Leo Scanlon Bailey, Jr. (Son). He is survived by: Nancy Bailey (Wife of 33 years), Neil Bailey (Son-Vickie), Doralee Bailey-Jones (Daughter), and Lawrence Doty (Son-Kathy); Grandchildren, Michelle Taschler, Stacey Luis, Greg Bailey, Carrie Hall, Nicole Howes, Sara Diaz, Brandi Wygle, Justin Bailey and Jack Doty; Great-Grandchildren, Hayden, Dustin, and Colten Taschler (Michelle); Thomas and Joshua Lewis (Stacey); Kaitlyn Fugate, Brandon Bailey, Amber, Tara, and Sequoia (Greg); Jadon and Ian Hall (Carrie); Caleb, Ellie, Lauren, Faith, and Body Howes (Nicole); Xander Diaz (Sara); Zachariah Crawford (Brandi); Great-great-grandchildren, Aaron (Tara); Olivia (Amber). Services for Leo will be held at the Veterans Memo-rial Cemetery in Fernley, NV on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Reception will be at 3:00pm at the Cottonwood Elementary School multipurpose room. In lieu of flowers, Leo has requested that donations be made to Fernley Crisis Pregnancy Center or the Cottonwood Elementary School library.
