Woman caring for boy allegedly used meth

A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on a felony count of maintaining a drug house Wednesday in the 2000 block of North Carson Street.

According to the woman’s arrest report:

A deputy responded to a report of a residential burglary at a home in the 1700 block of Brown Street at 5:12 p.m. He spoke with a woman who said she’d walked in on Mary Jenae Adams, 24, and others using drugs in the woman’s daughter’s home the night before. Adams was taking care of the daughter’s son while the daughter was in jail, and the woman said the boy had been sleeping in the next room when she arrived.

The woman told Adams she had until 7 the next morning to leave. She checked the apartment at 2 p.m. the next day, and Adams was gone. The woman had the locks changed. When she checked the apartment again at 4:45 p.m., she noticed the door had been kicked in.

When deputies responded, they found two spoons with a white crystalline substance on them in a bathroom and hypodermic devices near a dryer and in a bedroom.

A deputy found Adams, and she said she had been caring for the boy “24/7.” She added that she always makes sure he’s not present when she’s using meth.

Adams was arrested on the felony count, as well as on suspicion of child endangerment. Total bail was set at $22,500.

Adams remained in custody Thursday afternoon at the Carson City Jail.
